Nizhnekamsk.

Nizhnekamsk is located in the Republic of Tatarstan, on the left bank of Kama River, 236 km away from Kazan. Nizhnekamsk has been given three times the rank of the most comfortable city of Russia.

Nizhnekamsk city general plan was developed in 1958. Nizhnekamsk industrial community appeared in 1961. The first apartment building was constructed here in 1964. In 1966 the community was given by the status of the city.

Nizhnekamsk is the city with well developed industry, especially its petrochemical, oil refining and power generating branches. Many large enterprises work in the city.

The Central Cathedral Mosque of Nizhnekamsk is located on Khimikov Avenue. Its construction lasted from 1988 to 1996. The mosque is built in neo-romantic style. There is a spacious hall in the center of the building at the corners of which four 66-meter minarets tower. This is one of the highest mosques in the country.

The square named after Lemayev, a favourite recreation area of citizens, is located near the cathedral mosque. Each New Year the square turns into "the fir-tree small town".

One more place of interest of the city is the Nizhnekamsk city museum. It was opened in 1976 on Gagarin Street, but it has been placed in the new building in the downtown since 2004. The museum has more than 24 thousand exhibits.
